2002 Longaberger Block Party Basket Set. If this patriotic basket doesn’t inspire some summer block parties, or at least some cookouts, what will?? The protector of this big basket can be filled with ice and cold beverages for handy, patriotic drink service all day and evening! Longaberger’s 2002 All-American. Block Party Basket is a wonderful huge basket with a new “plaid” weave on a new basket form. This basket is rectangular on bottom and rounded on top with two swinging handles, allowing it to carry lots of things with easy access. The Block Party Basket was only available to qualifying hostesses, so it is not as common as some baskets. Plaid Weave consists of Royal Blue upsplints and 1/4″ Red shoestring weave along with the classic 5/8″ weaves. A Royal Blue tack strip accents the basket’s top band. I personally would call this blue Navy–it’s dark to be considered Royal. It’s very pretty! Red shoestring weaves on back of the basket are slightly faded, as though the basket has been in front of a window. They are still very red, and this won’t be noticeable since you don’t see both sides at once, but the price of this set has been marked down greatly to reflect this fading. There are also a few dark spots on the outside bottom of the basket on one side (see photos) that aren’t visible inside the basket, so they don’t go through the weaves. This doesn’t hurt the basket or its usefulness at all but has been considered in pricing. Big plastic protector is in excellent condition. Set includes Block Party Basket and Plastic Protector.
