1999 Classic Longaberger Newspaper Basket & Protector Set. What do you get when you combine a Longaberger Market Basket and a Vanity Basket? A neat, rectangular Newspaper Basket with angled sides to allow great access. Longaberger’s designer then added triple upsplints for strength, two rolled leather loop handles, and a special Protector Set. The Protector has two small extensions inside at the middle of each short side, with a heavy clear plastic Divider piece that slides down between those to split the Protector in half. It can be used with or without the Divider. Whether you choose to use the Newspaper Basket next to your favorite chair with reading materials, use it to organize in the office, hold sheet music and books next to your piano, or contain a craft project in it, you will enjoy this Set. With its unique Protector Set and added upsplints, the Newspaper Basket can hold and organize a lot. Added upsplints also provide stability. Stitched rolled leather handles are attached with brass rivets. They are a gold color as shown in photos. This Newspaper Basket has Classic stain. The Newspaper Basket has a few small dark spots on one side and a few weaves with a slight chip. These minor issues are not distracting or disfiguring and have already been considered in pricing this set. Baskets that sit on the ground are easily mistreated, but this one has no broken or cracked splints. Please use zoom feature on all photos. The plastic Protector Set is in good shape and very sturdy. The clear plastic Divider still has its original blue wrap to be pulled away. One photo shows it pulled away at the corner. Divider should be in great condition. The Newspaper Basket measures 15 3/4″ l by 10 1/2″ w by 12 1/4 h with two stitched leather handles.
