Longaberger 2013 Medium Ware Basket. Whether you love big baskets, Longaberger Corn Baskets, or Longaberger history in general, this basket will be a striking addition to your collection! In a nod to early Longaberger history, Longaberger offered Ware Baskets (original versions of the inverted-bottom Fruit and Corn Baskets) in 2013 with an unusual warm gray stain color and metal-reinforced splints. Longaberger’s Medium Ware Basket was the smaller of those offered, but isn’t that small. Ohio’s many potteries provided lots of business for JW Longaberger in the late 1800s when big Ware Baskets reinforced with metal were woven to carry heavy greenware in the potteries to decorated and fired. These historical-replica baskets were occasionally given to big Longaberger award winners through the years, with lots of excitement when two sizes were offered for a short time beginning in 2013. Handles are cut under the heavy top band. Metal reinforcement splints were used on top of some upsplints on the outside of the basket, but not on each one. The inverted bottom of this basket is even more unusual because of the metal splints. Please use zoom feature on all photos.
