Grandma Bonnie Longaberger’s 90th birthday was celebrated with this very special Two-Pie Basket Set in 1998. The big cubical Basket, designed to carry two pies, is accented with an exclusive fabric Liner and Handle Gripper and a very special woodburn. Over 100 years ago. JW Longaberger noticed that ladies at church socials needed larger baskets to avoid making multiple trips to bring in the different dishes they brought. Writing the owner’s name on the basket handle was a necessary tradition as well. JW designed the Two-Pie Basket (basically a tall Cake Basket) as a useful size for layering several items for his wife Bonnie, and this special edition has Bonnie Longaberger’s signature burned into one handle! Use zoom feature on all photos. Pretty chambray-blue fabric has a lattice background created with fruit words written in darker script with colorful baskets, fruits, and pie-related motifs inside its squares. The over-edge fabric Liner has a generous self-fabric ruffle and fastens under the two swinging handles with Velcro closure. The Handle Gripper makes carrying more comfortable and can also hold your serving spoon in with the handles. Both were displayed and then stored in original zip bags. Available July 1998 only, making it fairly rare. Grandma Bonnie’s Two-Pie Basket is 12″ l by 12″ w by 10 h with two swinging handles. A Cake Basket’s wooden riser can be used in this basket, allowing for layering. Or just use the one from your Cake Basket. There was also a wooden lid available that is not included in this set.
