2002 Longaberger Branch Leader Large Boardwalk Basket Set. Longaberger’s Large Boardwalk Basket was a big hit when it was introduced in 2001, with everyone appreciating its carrying ease. Red shoestring weave and top band accent were added for this special Branch Leader Basket given in 2002. It’s the same handy size with special red accents! The padded, stitched leather handles make it easy to grab and go. Carry necessities for your trip to the beach or the boat, load a special little picnic for two with a blanket on top, tote the basics for a spontaneous night away from home, corral supplies for a craft or project, carry sheet music and books. You will quickly find so many uses for this big Boardwalk Basket! This Large Boardwalk Basket has been used, with much use left in it. There are chipped weaves (horizontal) that are shown in photos. Also, one leather handle can come loose where the metal tack attaches it to the basket. The leather has stretched despite stitching at that hole. It can be reattached easily and does not just drop off unexpectedly. A few stitches with heavy thread or a trip to a leather shop might repair this issue if desired. Please use zoom feature on all photos. Longaberger offered three sizes of Boardwalk Baskets, each with a rectangular bottom and rounded top with special padded stitched leather handles. This basket’s chipped weaves are not noticeable or distracting and do not affect the usefulness or structural integrity of this Basket. No upsplints, the skeleton of the basket, are harmed in any way. The missing or chipped red weaves could even be colored with a red marker. Unfortunately, most large baskets that sit on the floor get a few chips over time. The Protector makes this Set handy for carrying wet items home from the pool or lake. You might even ice down a few bottles of wine in it for an outdoor evening concert! Plastic Protector is in good used condition with no cracks or chips. It does have a slightly cloudy appearance typical of old Protectors. It is best to put a small towel between a basket and protector when its holding ice–the condensation will leave your basket wet. Large Boardwalk Basket measures 17 3/4″ l by 10 1/2″ w by 12 h with two padded leather handles that are stitched with flexible tubing inside for added stability. The special red weave and accents were added for Longaberger Branch Leaders, a level of leadership that took quite a bit of time and work. The Large Boardwalk was available until 2014. Fabric liners available for the Large Boardwalk will fit this basket and might be found on the secondary market.
